My first blog.

I'm blogging about my experiences while training for the Louisville Ironman 2013. I think more for me, than anyone else so I am able to look back a day, a week, a month or even years after I finish my first IM. I hope after IM Louisville, I am able to say I am an IronwoMAN, but I know from others experiences,  that it can take more than one try to obtain that amazing title.  It began today.  My journey, adventure, road to the Louisville Ironman on August 25. 2013. Technically it's not time to train, that won't happen officially until Janurary 28th, but I need to do some maintenance training.  I haven't ran since I run the Chicago Marathon on Oct 7.  I over-trained for that race and had a couple of injuries so,  I wanted to make sure I was injury free and not burnt out before doing maintenance training.   Not really working out for 4 weeks was surprisingly hard for me.   The first week didn't bother me at all, but then I started getting really restless that 2nd week.  But I had a soleus strain, my IT band was inflamed, and I had shoulder tendonitis from an incorrect swim stroke so I had to take the time off to heal. I saw an amazing Chiropractor that specialized in Active Release Therapy (ART) Dr. Bee at Occupational Kinetics twice a week for those 4 weeks, and prior to Chicago. Thanks to him I feel so much better and ready to workout again. I did my first run post Chicago today. I felt great. I'm starting to train via heart rate monitor this time around. I keep hearing that this is the way to train for a 70.3 an Ironman.   I also got in a 15 minute swim. Right now I'm really focusing on correct swim stroke, and ended with a 30 minute strength training session. Whew...what am I thinking :) J/k I'm so excited.
